Trusted Platform Module
The trusted platform module (TPM) mechanism is used to secure hardware devices. Software programs can use the TPM mechanism to authenticate hardware devices, since each TPM chip has a unique and secret key burned in during production. Pushing the security down to the hardware level provides more protection than a software-based security solution.
This pattern is covered in IoT Module 2: IoT Technology and Architecture.
