Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)

The mean time between failures metric can be utilized to measure the amount of time that elapses between failures.

The MTBF metric is measured during the Operate phase.

Mathematically, this measurement is the sum of the MTTF and MTTR measurements, the total time required for a device to fail and that failure to be repaired.

An example of the MTBF metric.

If a failure occurs multiple times, each is typically measured individually.
