Storage Path Masking
The storage path masking mechanism can be used to discover the available paths to a cloud storage device or physical storage device in a similar fashion as the multipathing mechanism. This mechanism can be used to establish concurrent communication over multiple pathways and hide some or all paths to a cloud or physical storage device from systems or applications.
For example, a storage path masking mechanism can limit Physical Server A to utilize only two of the four paths to Fabric A or Fabric B when accessing data on LUN A, as shown in Figure 1.
